เมื่อใดเราควรใช้ in เมื่อใดควรใช้ on และเมื่อใดควรใช้ at

| surfaces – พื้นผิว | There’s a dirty mark on the page / table. | |
| the front / side / back – ด้านหน้า ด้านข้าง ด้านหลัง | There’s a label is on the box / bottle | |
| left / right – ด้านซ้าย ด้านขวา | The school is on the left. | |
| floors – ชั้น | Jim’s office is on the second floor. | |
| lists / menus – ลำดับ รายการ | What’s on the menu? Did you buy everything on the list? | |
| roads – ถนน | I live on Jackson street. The nearest gas station is on the motorway. The post box is on the way to work. | |
| natural lines and borders – เส้นแบ่งธรรมชาติ | He lives on the coast. London is on the River Thames. | |
| At | the top / bottom – ด้านบน ด้านล่าง | Sign your name at the top / bottom. |
| directions – ทิศทาง | Turn left at the traffic lights / roundabout / end of the street. | |
| position – ตำแหน่ง | Wait at the traffic lights / corner / tree. | |
| the front / the back – ด้านหน้า ด้านหลัง | I wrote my name at the front / back of the book. | |
